Köln
After Aachen, we took the train to Cologne (or “Köln,” if you like umlautsand who doesn’t?). Köln is home to the second-largest gothic cathedral in the world (which, if I’d had a wider lens or a little more distance, you might have been able to appreciate more):
It also houses relics from the Three Kings.
Here’s my attempt to take a non-flash picture on the inside:
Having taken a tour recently, Robert led us around the city and pointed out some sites of interest. In the middle of this activity, we wandered into this very attractive courtyard:
He also pointed out the gutters on some of the buildings, which are sweetly fashioned to look like bare bottoms:
(If you’re a hyper internet-reader and link-clicker, you’ll notice some parallels between this site and Robin’s).
Köln is also notable for its Kölsch beer, to be compared tobut not confused withAlt beer of Düsseldorf.

The Three Kings? Isn't that a George Cloony movie? So relics from the Three Kings, that would be, what? Rusty desert vehicle? George's beard? Mark Wahlberg?
I like the no-flash picture inside the cathedral. It fills me with awe in the power of the landlord.
I have been WEEKS without a pub picture.
I like umlauts, I like them a lot more than drunken louts but I could use some more pub pictures.
So I checked out Robin's blog, thinking I'd finally get to see a picture of Jennifer, since there's obviously none here, and after quite a bit of searching, I finally found proof that Jennifer actually was in Germany:
