Monday night downtown Italian

I try to avoid the wow!-I-went-out-for-dinner posts, since they’re not particularly exciting, even if the evenings themselves are fun. But if there isn’t anything else going on to write about, I have no choice. So here’s a picture of Jason, post-meal in this restaurant, reluctantly allowing me to take his picture.

I wish Canada were irrelevant

After many years in New York—almost a full year more than I’ve been here—and after various celebrations—including a party involving a patriotic cake...

Mike has moved back to Toronto.

Bah.

You can’t have just one

Believe it or not, I was entertained by two mariachi bands last weekend. I can only hope what this weekend will bring.

Saints in New York

St. Patrick’s Day was this past weekend. I went to a party on a nicely tall building, conveniently located above the parade:

And today (or yesterday) is the first day of Spring—no matter when the clocks went forward. Happy Spring!

High Art

Thanks to the contacts of a friend, I got to see the Asian art on display (and soon to be auctioned) at Sotheby’s last night. The art was both old


and new.


Unfortunately, I’m not sure my apartment would really do either of these pieces justice, but it’s fun to imagine.

A week ago Joy and Bill had some people over. And we all played the Wii! I bowled pretty well, but really crashed and burned in boxing. These three had more luck:

Another foray into the world of cheese

I went to another cheese tasting last night. There were no cheeses this time that I thought tasted like medicinal supplies, which is, I think, an improvement.

A milestone, sort of

I’ve had my camera since Christmas of 2005. And last night, without realizing it (until this morning), I took my two-thousandth picture. Woo! Had I realized it was such a momentous occasion, I might’ve tried to take a better picture. As it was, I just lay the camera on a bar and pushed the button:
