I listen to the news on the radio as I wake up in the morning. Sometimes it takes me a long time to get out of bed—either because I’m sleepy, or because there’s a story that makes me laugh and laugh.

I went to a dinner party this weekend—a Bulgarian name-day celebration. The hosts made was all sorts of traditional food, and even had a suckling pig!

Chess in Rhode Island

I’ve been learning to play chess. When I went to Rhode Island, Preston promised me that he liked to play, and that he wasn’t good.

In any event, the game took three hours and ended in a stalemate. I wanted to win.
