Continuing the vacation

And now I’m in an internet cafe in Sarlat, in the Dordogne valley in southwestern France. Among other things, there are two castles here that we visited: Castelnaud and Beynac. The two families were rivals for over two centuries, and we went to each one and shook our fists at the other across the valley.

And today we’re off to Paris.

No pictures? I'm in an Austin hotel once more listening to a sort of country band playing in the lobby. They aren't bad but it's obvious most of the patrons are barely able to contain their eagerness to head to the bridge to see the cute little bats who are scheduled to take flight at 8:00. Fortunately, I can see them from my room.

The band is The Newz. I sent you a pic, now send one of the castles!

I'd be leery of playing both sides of a blood feud, even in jest. Although you might bring peace to the land by uniting them in opposition to you . . . Is there a third castle to which you could retreat, if necessary?

There are ways of coming out ahead while playing both sides against one another. I'd suggest the chapter from Huckleberry Finn but I know you're more of a Fist Full of Dollars sort...
